A Vascular Specialist is a specialized and certified physician or surgeon who excels in treating disorders related to venous insufficiency by proper diagnosis and management of symptoms and related conditions. The main area of focus for a Vascular specialist are Veins & Arteries as well as the lymphatic systems.
The treatment procedures used by a Vascular Surgery Specialist are catheter-based endovascular treatments, open surgeries, re-constructive surgery for the affected area and non-invasive vascular treatment procedures. There is a wide difference between a Vascular specialist and a Cardiovascular specialist since the former do not operate on the heart or the area around it.

Aneurysms It is generally a condition of enlarged artery wherein the arterial wall can cause rupture resulting from thinning of the wall. A Vascular surgeon repairs the affected area which may clot or rupture after determining the conditions and possibilities.
Atherosclerosis It is a condition where the veins enlarges and gets twisted and are generally becomes visible beneath the skin region. Critical conditions may result in pain in the legs, swelling and clotting of blood. To treat such conditions, a Vascular Surgeon often prescribes compression stockings along with proper exercise and keeping the legs in an elevated position. Surgery may be needed in more complex cases.
Varicose veins It is a condition where the arteries gets hardened mainly the carotid arteries. At times, artherosclerotic plaque may even break and cause stroke if reaches the brain. Interventional therapy is used by a Vascular specialist to prevent such strokes.
